The Two Towers

I tried this one for the Two Towers, working on a buff paper with paint and pencil.

I quite liked the weight of the eyes at the top of the composition (homage to Drew with his poster for EP1), but overall I do not like the finished piece because of the "yellow" tone the illustration.

I also do not like my drawing of Frodo - who I really thought ended up looking shocking.

The Fellowship of the Ring

Grants beautiful LOTR's post reminded me of some scribbles I did a little while ago. Colored pencil on heavy paper

I've been working on some personal commissions, I feel like a bad artist for not getting anything done, but I have all this exciting stuff happening and a knitting commission that needs to be finished. :)

I've been working on some sketches for the book pitch, I'm really rusty so I have to get myself down to the library.

I need to work on my 2006 sketch book, too. A lot of exciting stuff happening.

This is a little commission for a friend of mine. He wanted a button with his Cheeta Avatar on it, so I made him two :D

Working on another commission which I'll post when I have it coloured. :)

Professor Fluffernutter

Another Character drawing for the M-Force comic.

One set to rule them all!!

Since the Lord of the Rings: Evolution cards are about to hit stores in a few days, I thought I'd re-post a few of my sketches here. I'm really pumped for these to come out! It's been a couple months since I drew 'em, but now the excitement's startin' to build again!! :D

S'more

Here's another character drawing from the comic I'm doing. His name is S'more!

Decided a little while ago to look at the possibility of making some arty posters from a few of my drawings.

I liked the idea of a stark black and white interpretation and I also quite liked the idea of using a bright red symbol at the base to off-set the starkness of the image. I took the 'signature' I used on the Obi-wan painting and used the same on these layouts.

This is "Iron Jim" where in the original colored drawing, I tried to capture some of Cameron's maverick nature.

Needless to say I still have not done any prints

Wow alot of great posts so far. Sorry I've been out of the loop..but will make a point to post more often now. Wanted to put up some character drawings that I did for a comic that I'll officially working on from Viper Comics (Otis's home for his book Oddly Normal) called Johnny Blasters M-Force. IN a nutshell their weapons shoot marshmellows. You can see the original characters and the actual Marshmellow shooters here http://www.marshmallowville.com/ I never even knew these existed.

The drawings that I'll put up are my takes on the characters. This will be a 4 issue mini and is volume 2. Whenever I can post pgs. I will...but for now I can show character sketches that I did as samples to get the gig. Issue 1 won't hit to late this year early next year.

From the same collection, but marker pen and pencil this time

Still lots of hair though

I recall somewhere that this blog was not only going to be Star Wars related - so I thought I would give this image a try.

I am seriously tired of drawing people at the moment, so I thought I would try my hand at to something completely different. Wildlife seemed like as big a departure as any, and this is one from a new collection I am working on. It is acrylic on board with pencil detail.

The only problem I have is that I hate drawing hair, and bushes, and in the wild, there tends to be a lot of that everywhere. Perhaps a bald lion in a concrete box would be the answer

Sidious Saturday

This was the first painting I attempted after not working in the medium for about 4 years - and it shows.

I started with Ewan's face but was really up-tight and the paint ended up thick and uninteresting, as I worked down, it got better until I was working in the style I prefer - by the time I reached the lightsaber.

I decided to try a piece that might look like something that could hang in the Jedi temple, but being seriously stupid when it comes to the SW universe, I just hammered away hoping to get something that might be a mix of fantasy art and eastern design

Yoda-George

I seriously enjoyed doing this drawing of George Lucas after the release of EP1. Fortunately for me, he liked it as well and it now resides in his private collection

Frakkin' Toaster

(I Am Your) Father Friday

Something cute I found while going through my art closet:

Also, I've been invited to do a How to Draw dragons book for a reputable company. It's currently an invitation to pitch (Which is VERY hard to get) so I'm spinning. The company sent me many many book samples, I just need to throw my samples together. It feels completely unreal. It's like I'm finally a grownup.

Someone pinch me and wake me up from this dream.

Tony

This is also not that new, but I always liked Tony holding the head of of his character. I used a loose line around the composition to try and convey what I saw was the gentle nature of the actor and the robot..

Young or Old?

This is not new, but when I painted this I was wondering if Harrison had the same problem as I do as I get older and that is that my head keeps trying to convince me I am young, but my body tells me otherwise

Chirrrrp Chirrrp

The sound of cricktes . . .

A tumbleweed rolls by . . .

An old man falls down dead and no one notices . . .

Jeez, why not just go back to calling this thing "Art Sluts"? No one is posting anything anyway, so it's not like anyone will be coming to this blog to see new work. I guess all of my concerns were for nothing.

A cow moos . . .

The wind blows . . .

A blog falls down dead and no one notices . . .

Maul Monday

I was only gonna' post sketches here, but Grant made me post this. I swear to Jeebus I wasn't copying you, Grant. I'm doing 5 other SW villains as a set of marker drawings to bring to Comic-Con. :)

But if anyone else wants to get in on the Maul cavilcade, feel free! Maybe we should get a weekly theme going to liven this blog up a bit.

Stuff from my 2005 Sketchbook

My Sketchboook was technically a show off of my inking skills, this year I think it'll have a higher sketch content. :D

Here are a couple of pieces from the sketch book. And I realized after doing these, they were all facing the same way >.< :

Spaceman & Batgirl

I know I've already posted these two everywhere (my site, my blog, Scoundrel forums, blah blah blah). But they're my latest images that aren't part of projects I can't show off yet, so here they are once more. Enjoy.

Again.

Trying something new

In working on my sketchbook, I got the urge to draw in ink pens, or multi-liners. It took me a while to get up the courage to commit to the permanent line that is ink. But once I got started, thanks to Tom's encouragement, It went pretty smooth. So this was my experiment..I know I have a ways to go in learning this but it is refreshing to try something new now and then...

Some '05 Sketches

Here's a look at a few of the doodles that were in my sketchbook from last year. I'm gonna get started working on my '06 book this weekend. Assuming I don't sleep for 48 hours straight. :)

Hey Howdy

Super busy doing work... I will likely post some new stuff next week...

The party can start...

Woo hoo, Terri's in the house...or on the blog...nevermind.

I'm here!

The page that never was...sigh*

Here's a pg. from a story that I was working on but was unfinished due to the colorist going MIA. The boy character is Kidd Bonzai..if your curious on that character there's more pgs. at my site. Thought it would be cool to post a pg. that never was completed...well for now at least.

Children of the Grave

Okay, I'm gonna throw down the first post here!! WHAMM! This is a pin-up I did for IDW's "Children of the Grave" TPB, coming out in July '06.
